Interior Design

Interior design at Changing Images Design is about creating rooms that feel as good to live in as they are to look at. The goal is a home that reflects your taste, supports daily routines, and connects seamlessly to the architecture around it.

Most of our interior design work is tied to remodeling and general contracting projects, where layout, finishes, and furnishings are considered together. In some cases, we also help clients refine existing spaces through thoughtful updates to finishes, furnishings, and lighting.

What this service includes

Our interior design services focus on the parts of your home that you see and touch every day, while staying aligned with the structure and function of the space.

  • Space planning & layout
  • Materials, finishes, & fixtures
  • Furnishings, lighting, & styling

We look at how you move through a room, where you sit, work, cook, or entertain, and how each area connects to the next. Floor plans and furniture layouts are developed to support circulation, conversation, storage, and sightlines.

We help you select cabinetry, countertops, tile, flooring, plumbing fixtures, lighting, hardware, paint, and other finishes so everything feels like it belongs in the same home. The aim is a cohesive palette, not a collection of disconnected choices.

For many projects, we also assist with furnishings, area rugs, window treatments, decorative lighting, and key accessories. Pieces are chosen for proportion, comfort, and longevity, with an emphasis on layered, collected spaces rather than one-note showrooms.

Benefits of Hiring an Interior Designer

Ever bought a piece of furniture that looked perfect in the store but overwhelmed the room at home, or repainted several times trying to find the right color? It may feel counterintuitive to pay a designer’s fee, but a good designer helps you avoid costly mistakes and make decisions that support the long term value of your home. If you are working within a defined budget, a designer knows how to prioritize and get the most from what you plan to spend, and is used to working with detailed budgets so you understand where each dollar goes.

A designer brings a clear process and an ordered sequence of decisions, so you are not starting from scratch or circling the same choices for weeks. Instead of researching every option, coordinating vendors, and troubleshooting issues on your own, you benefit from someone who already understands what needs to happen, in what order, and where problems are likely to arise. That structure keeps the project moving and gives you back hours you would otherwise spend managing details.

A trained designer gives you more than ideas; you get a clear, informed plan for your space. With education and experience in both design and construction, a designer can quickly see what is working, what is not, and what changes will make the greatest difference. That perspective combines the creative side of interiors with practical considerations like proportion, function, and flow, so decisions are based on more than just what looks good in a photo.

Designers work every day with showrooms, trades, and vendors, so they have vetted contacts you can rely on instead of starting from scratch. They also have access to a wider range of products, fabrics, and finishes than what is typically available at retail. With those resources, a designer can pull together a space that feels tailored and collected, rather than assembled from the same pieces everyone else is buying.

Designers are trained to see the whole room at once: scale, proportion, flow, lighting, furnishings, fabrics, and finishes all working together. Instead of a mix of nice individual pieces, you get a cohesive composition, often with custom details and trade-only materials that make the space feel distinctive, not generic. The result is a home that looks elevated and intentional and also functions smoothly in day-to-day life, without you having to juggle every design decision on your own.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

In many cases, our interior design work is part of a larger remodel that we also manage as general contractor. For select projects, we may provide design-only services for existing spaces. We can discuss what is appropriate for your situation during an initial phone call.

Professional design is an investment, but it often prevents expensive mistakes and helps direct your budget toward the elements that will have the most impact. Clients frequently find that good planning saves both time and money over the life of the project.

We narrow options to a focused set that fits your home, your taste, and your investment level, then guide you through key decisions. You stay involved where your preferences matter most without having to manage every detail yourself.

Often, yes. Many projects blend new elements with existing furnishings, art, or heirlooms that are important to you. We look at how those pieces can be integrated so the room still feels intentional and cohesive.

We do not impose a single look. Instead, we respond to the architecture of your home, how you live, and what you are naturally drawn to. The result is a refined, cohesive space that feels like a more considered version of your own taste rather than a trend-driven showroom.
